In the Rogers Watson Residence existing walls are removed to improve flow and increase natural light in this bungalow-goes-modern renovation and addition. Two retreats are created – one upstairs, one downstairs – establishing for each homeowner a place of their own. The upper level includes a well-appointed home office, master suite, and roof deck. The lower level includes a spa, den, and studio that flow into a walled garden. The courtyard, porch, and main level form a shared gallery for entertaining. Two walls – one blue, one oak – activate the core of the house and form a common frame of reference as one moves between levels.
