Roberts Second Story Addition

Live Large Cottage

This early 1900s foursquare cottage was relocated in 1949 to clear way for nearby Cameron Village Shopping Center. The Roberts Second Story Addition includes ribbon windows and natural materials, which reflect the energy and optimism of the modern structures that displaced the original home. A cantilevered, 'twosquare' bedroom suite addition creates and shelters a new entry porch/terrace below. The study/guestroom is now an extension to the living space and a dining area is created by an alcove opening between rooms. Pivoting and sliding doors provide varying levels of circulation and privacy. Simple geometries allow this modest house to 'live large'.
